Neither Crater Lake National Park, nor the Crater Lake Ski Patrol, offer current information on avalanche conditions, snow conditions nor advise on safety conditions in backcountry areas of the Park.

 

Be Aware: Traveling to and from the Park, activities and personal gear are your responsibility.

There are a few avalanche areas in Crater Lake National Park. Stay informed and be aware. Please visit the Backcountry Office in the Garfield Ranger Station, located just behind the Visitors Center at Crater Lake. Backcountry permits are required for avalanche areas and areas more than 1 mile from the Visitor Center and from Rim Village.
